Comments: A primary source of the food starch Sago. The new leaf fronds come out curled up like ferns. It is not a true palm or fern but an in-between plant known as cycads or tree-ferns. The new leaves can be cooked similar to fiddleheads.
Toxicity: When large quantities are ingested, symptoms include: vomiting, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, and seizures. Attractive to pets who can also be poisoned.
